About
About Mastertake
Mastertake is a production coach and session notebook for people who are new to making records. It is being built in Izmir, Türkiye, to work in Turkish and English from the start.
Where it comes from
We run a recording studio in Izmir and make music ourselves. We learned to make records the hard way, without anyone to show us what mattered first.
We see the same struggle in people who come through the studio. Many don’t know how to arrange a song, how to produce or mix it, or what mastering is for. Some can’t afford proper equipment; others own beginner gear and don’t know what to do with it. They lose months to avoidable problems, buy gear in the wrong order, and finish tracks they can’t judge.
With Mastertake, we want to give them what we didn’t have: a patient guide that starts from their actual track, explains in plain language what the measurements show, and helps them decide what to do next.
- Run by
Mastertake Management
The studio team behind Mastertake writes and reviews the playbook, coaches artists, and approves everything Mastertake publishes.
Advise, never author
Mastertake may explain, diagnose, teach, compare options and give opinions that are clearly labelled as taste. It never composes, writes lyrics or parts, generates audio or images, masters or edits an artist’s files, or does the creative work for them. If asked to, it teaches how instead.
The artist decides. Every technical suggestion cites a measurement or a rule from the playbook, and the assistant says plainly what it can’t know: it can’t hear the track.
How it’s built
- Audio is analyzed on the artist’s own computer with open-source tools. Only the measurements and the artist’s notes reach the AI model, Claude, made by Anthropic.
- The advice comes from a playbook: rules we write from our own studio experience and review one by one. The model applies and explains the rules; it doesn’t invent them.
- We try everything on our own music first, then with a small group of artists.
